Everyone is aware that screwout and quarter turn deckplates are great things to have on boats to keep water out or in while still allowing access to otherwise closed areas. The trouble is that these handy items can get hard to open, and when they do, they don't seem nearly so great. A lot of guys make their own deckplate wrenches from wood or glue and screw handles to the plates themselves. Here is an alternative gadget. It is cheap, adjustable, and it floats. The only thing it needs is an eye for a lanyard, but you could easily add that.
