Double Paddle Ferrule Sets

Stainless - set - $20.00
Fiberglass - set - $29.00
Carbon Fiber - set - $34.00

Fiberglas - Carbon Fiber - SS

If you make a fancy birdsmouth double paddle for your kayak, or even a solid wood paddle from a section of closet rod - you may want to be able to break it down like the expensive carbon fiber jobs. It will certainly fit in your car more easily that way. Now you can gain this versatility with one of our ferrule kits. Each allows a double paddle to be broken in two for shipping or transport by simply pressing a button and twisting. Then easily re-attach the two parts in any of three different positions.

There are other uses for these ferrules too, such as for pushpoles. Read Rob Rohde-Szudy's article on using the stainless steel version with a wood pushpole

We now have three different options: Stainless Steel, Fiberglass or Carbon Fiber. Each includes a stainless spring clip which locks the two halves in either of three different feathering positions.

The ID of the stainless ferrules where it goes on the shaft is 1-3/16" and the OD is 1-1/4" at the shaft and 1-5/16" at overlap. The set includes both halves, a spring retainer, and two ss screws. Overall length: 6".

The CF and FG ferrules are 1-1/8" ID and 1-1/4" OD x 14" long. No screws are included - they can be epoxied to the shaft of your paddle.

All the ferrules have three feathering positions: 0°, +60°, -60°

These ferrules weigh as follows:

  • Stainless Steel - 4.55 oz.
  • Carbon Fiber - 4.85 oz.
  • Fiberglass - 5.15 oz.

Feedback:

I was just able to fit each blank on my old delta lathe so could only insert to a depth of 3" on each blank. 87.5" oal . Used it for 3hrs today on Banks Lake NWR. Total Weight , 36oz. Will try drip rings in the future. Used Devcon Epoxy. 4000psi.
