Introduction
Mark Steel, who writes about model and radio control boats for Duckworks Magazine introduced to Graham McAllister, the guy who designed and produces these kits. Here is what Mark said:
Graham McAllister, an Englishman with a Scottish name, believe it or not, and resident these days in Sheboygan County in the State of Wisconsin, USA, is producing two current kits of Footy model yachts that he designed himself. The Kittiwake K2 is one of them, the other being the lug sail Pintail.
The key thing about Graham’s boats is the foam core hull construction method which makes building them very easy and adds flotation that makes them (I am told) virtually unsinkable.
I looked at Graham's website and was so impressed with his products that I called him and talked to him about his kits. We hit it off pretty well and ended up agreeing that Duckworks would offer the kits to our customers. I am going to build one myself - what a great way to get started in RC sailing!
The Boat:

The new Kittiwake K2 features carbon
booms, rudder shaft and an innovative
carbon strip forestay to increase jib
sail efficiency. Increased sail area
really makes K2 move in a wide range
of wind speeds.
Construction is based on an accurate
ScaleSailing foam core which you
cover with thin plywood panels to
form the hull. Most parts are laser cut
for accuracy and ease of use.
Comprehensive step-by-step building
instructions include a photo CD
containing over 230 construction and
sailing photos. The CD will play on
your computer and most DVD players.
About the Kit:

The 'Kittiwake K2' Full Kit includes:
ScaleSailing Foam Core, laser cut high grade 1/32" plywood hull bottom, sides,
transom and deck. Laser cut servo tray, rudder and many other parts, fin
material. Aluminum tube tapered mast, mast tube, carbon tube booms, carbon
strip forestay. Rigging thread and hardware, Ready to use 0.75oz sealed ripstop
nylon sails, clear plastic deck cover, footy logo template. Custom cast lead bulb
weight. Step-by-step instructions and drawings plus a comprehensive photo CD! (no electronics are included in the kit)
Note: the keel weight is lead, after handling lead your hands should be washed
thoroughly. Lead should be painted once installed on the model to reduce
future contact.
The looks of a Classic Wooden Pond Yacht without the Work!
ScaleSailing.com has developed this simple and unique model
boat hull building system so that you can enjoy the pleasure of
making and owning a wooden model boat without the work of
assembling frames, laying a keel, planking the hull etc.

This is hot wire cut from 'virgin bead' 16oz cu.ft. expanded
polystyrene and is very light, the 'Type B' hull core above
measures 11 3/4" long and weights just 0.4oz (12g). This hull
core ensures that your boat is straight and true, no more twisted
hulls as can so easily happen in frameless construcion which
is the typical way to build these small sailboats.
Originally conceived to solve these problems while building a
'Footy' Class sailboat ..... the possibilities are endless!
Oh.... and they are unsinkable too!
In principle all you have to do to finish the hull is glue the plywood
panels onto the foam core, bottom, sides, transom and deck.

A waterproof wood glue is recommended and strips of masking
tape are all the clamps you will need. There is no need for a
tooled up workshop to build ScaleSailing kits.
The kits include laser cut ply parts to ease construction still further.
