94" x 31" Double Paddle Solo Pram
The Jackson is a small, simple, and capable boat that will allow you to get to, and be on the water, with minimal preparation and planning. Easily transported and simply propelled, it is a fun boat to be in, and provides a perfect platform for quietly poking about the edges of your favorite piece of water.
The Jackson is quite stable despite its diminutive size as the bow transom keeps the hull nearly full width for its entire length. Powered by a double bladed paddle, it moves along faster and easier than you might imagine. At only 94 inches long, it will take up very little space at home and can even be stood up in the corner of a room.
The Jackson is built upside down on a simply constructed building jig and uses the fiberglass/epoxy taped seam method for joining the panels. It takes one and one half sheets of 1/4 inch or 6mm plywood along with a few pieces of dimension lumber and no scarfing of the plywood is required. The three-sheet plans set details fore and aft storage/flotation areas although a simpler and lighter version of the boat is possible by omitting these. Depending on configuration chosen and choice of materials, the completed boat should weigh between 25 and 30 pounds. A complete parts list and five page building guide are included with the plans.
The Jackson is an uncomplicated boat that is quite easy to build and you will be rewarded for your efforts with many hours of fun and relaxing time on the water.
