The 26’ Whaler has been designed to get the youth interested in activities on the water from building the boat to mounting expeditions. She can take 10 crew with at least 8 rowing and has plenty of space for stowing gear. Her shape has been based on the British Naval Whaler with it’s rounded bow and ample midship section. But in this instance, for ease in construction and to keep building time and costs down, we gave gone for a multi-chine hull shape in plywood.

Construction is simple stitch and tape or ply over frame with 4 planks per side. The hull is symmetrical about amidships and can be built and stored in 2 identical halves if required.

Although not drawn yet, she could take a simple rig with rudder etc. Full construction (which includes seating and sole etc) takes approximately 20 sheets of 9mm plywood.
