| This craft takes it's heritage
from quite a number of traditional fishing craft used around
the South West and French coasts for pilchard and mackerel
driving. These boats had quite a number of subtle variations
on the lug rig and in this case we have gone for a dipping
main with standing lug mizzen mounted fairly well forward
making a bumpkin unnecessary. The hull is a simplified form
of a type which we have initially developed for constructing
simple versions of classic motor boats. this uses pre-shaped
ply sides which are attached to a computer generated framework
of ply bulkheads and girders. The bottom is formed using arched
ply in 2 layers and the round bilge area is strip planked
with the whole hull sheathed in glass cloth. She has a steel
centreplate and is fitted out in open fashion with side decks
and thwarts and has areas for an outboard well and built-in
buoyancy.
