The
Stornoway 9 is the first of a new class of dinghies which
incorporate firm bilges and moderately full transoms needed
to carry loads safely and to give good sailing qualities
without dragging a large transom through the water.
The plank shapes have been computer generated
for simple stitch and epoxy construction and to make her
eye sweet, she has 5 planks per side in addition to a narrow
hog plank which greatly simplifies construction. She uses
3 sheets of 6mm ply for her hull and the sail rig can be
added later. The bow shape can be modified to suit but a
traditional stem shape is shown on the drawings.
