Since selling his airplane in 2006 and moving to Greece in 2007, Andrew's interests have moved on from flying to boating.
He built his first wooden boat in 2008 to William Jackson's 1955 design for a 12 foot runabout called “The Ace”.
Having built it he realised that boat building methods have moved on significantly. Stitch and glue' or 'tack and tape' methods simplify construction and produce a more durable boat. This, combined with his skills with 3D and 2D CAD design software, gained over the previous 20 years in his profession as an architect, have enabled him to produce designs that include fully developed and full size drawings of all the parts needed to make a boat.
In preparing his designs, the 3D modeling process has also enabled him to produce illustrations of every stage of assembly which he provides in his construction manuals and in video format, thus making the whole process of building your own boat virtually foolproof.
Andrew's aim is to produce stylish designs for small boats that can be both fun and economical.
