Description

A new boat type? Why not? The idea, a personal multihull cruiser for the least amount of work and cost. I like Proas but I do not like shunting. It is okay for long distances but not, for instance, in a channel or river with a lot of traffic like here in the Netherlands. So a tacking Proa perhaps? A moment please. If I have a tacking Proa then she sails at the one tack as a Pacific Proa and at the other tack as an Atlantic Proa. A small ama in respect to the wa'a (main hull) is not desirable when sailing as an Atlantic Proa. Too low volume from a given wind condition can lead to a diving bow and eventually a capsice over the bow.

Solution: make both hulls the same length and volume (up to a point). Next place the rig on the "secondary" hull and you have a CATAPROA®.

The craft is now tested.

I built and designed the boat for the first time amateur boad builder in mind. A boat which fits perfect in our time. Easy and fast to build. Easy to sail, easy to set up and be ready to sail.

The construction manual is more or less a picture story. Because a photo is worth a thousand words. The drawings can be delivered as DXF CAD drawings or as PDF files.

Cheers
Bernd Kohler
