These are the best fids we have ever used. I found out about them from Michael Storer when he was visiting after Sail Oklahoma. He was making some videos demonstrating making eyes in 12 strand Spectra and asked for one of these Selma fids. We did not have them then but we do now.
Part of the secret to these clever tools is the barb in the back end that holds the line in the fid while you thread the line in and out.
We now have a set of 5 fids available in a convenient storage tube. This set saves you $12.89 over the prices of the fids bought individually. As a bonus, with the 5 piece set, you get a full color brochure which has instructions for splicing both three strand and double braid lines.
Here is how the manufacturer suggests locking the line on the barb:
These fids are extremely well made of stainless steel and are suitable for use with not only 12 strand line, but 3 strand and even double braid as well.
