Highlander 7'6" Mk2 Plans

I have now updated one of the first Selway Fisher designs, the Highlander 7'6". The original design was drawn up in the 70's well before computers and boat design software was available - so the design started with a carved half model from which the hull panel shapes were taken using tracing paper. These were measured and scaled up to give the full-size shapes. This process worked well but was not entirely accurate and also limited what i could do with the hull shape. So, having modeled the original hull design onto my computer, I was able to take a second look at the hull shape and modify it to make it more efficient and then redevelop the hull panels much more accurately.

This mark 2 version has more volume and therefore carrying capacity, and better hull balance. Details are given for both the original narrow apron bow and a traditional sharp bow. Construction uses the original simple stitch and tape with a flat rockered bottom and 2 further hull panels per side. She is an excellent first build and has been used as a tender and to teach children to sail.
